Online vs Live Poker Play
Sep. 29th, 2008 | 06:56 am
The games don’t have many differences though. If you are good in a casino or at live poker, then you will find online poker pretty much the same and can easily win if you get used to just a few differences and with the use of software instead of live cards. In both the games, you will need good cards which will give you an edge over your opponents and of course you don’t have to ‘tilt’, whether it is the online game of the live poker. If you are a beginner, whether you are playing the online poker or the live poker, you should always stick to your ‘level’ and if you are advanced enough then you can play at your earned level in both versions of the poker.
But having said that, there are differences especially with the strategy. First, when you consider the fact that in live poker you can only play one table and not six as it is possible with online poker and that it is easier to ‘read’ the people in live poker, then for sure you will approach the game differently. The online games are more involving and need more concentration than the live games. The live games are quite passive and so here, the player will be quickly compelled to limp at any position; but if the tables haven’t been raised already, and he limps with any reasonable hand. If you are playing the online game, the tendency is to play more hands. However, in the process the players might make mistakes on the amount to bet.
As mentioned earlier, the online game needs more planning and concentration since you can’t see the players you are playing with, to read them. The game therefore becomes tighter than the live game and so it is advised that one should opt for ‘open rising’ if you want to opt for stealing blinds and also in setting up a heads up pot. When this is done, you then go on firing bets and lead in betting to make good profits. In the live game, it is better to start with a limp go on getting money from there, taking advantage of the ignorance about size pots. (continue reading &aquo;)

Have Fun With Online Casino Gambling
Apr. 25th, 2008 | 03:30 pm
For ages, people have indulged in gambling. The erstwhile royals patronized camel races, horse races, elephant races and various other card and board games. In the post industrialized era, gambling on poker, bingo, lottery and slot machines gained in popularity and in this post modern era, online casino gambling has caught the fancy of the young and old alike. Online gambling has seduced everyone from the ninety-year-old grandpa to the barely legal young adults. Gambling is more prevalent and popular today than any other time in human history.
The 1920s saw gambling banned in the United States. This lured even more people into gambling. Most people find gambling hard to resist as it offers instant gratification and money. Today, there are online casinos that offer jackpots equivalent to 25 years of salary at the click of a mouse, all you need is a credit or debit card.
Earlier, if you had an uncontrollable urge to gamble you would have to take a road trip to Atlantic City or Las Vegas to indulge in gambling. However, today you needn't travel so many miles to play slot or carps - you can do it sitting in your bedroom or living room if you have access to 24-hour online casinos. No more do you have to undertake the arduous trip to Vegas. All you need is a computer, high-speed Internet connection, and a few hundred dollars to blow. However, it is important to note that Las Vegas has not lost its charm and the number of visitors is growing each year. With the right company, a trip to Las Vegas can be a blast and nothing can quite come close to it.
It’s prudent to gamble with the money you have, rather than borrow from credit card companies. Play only if you have cash; never play on borrowed money or credit. Countless people have gone bankrupt after borrowing more than their capacity to pay back. Gambling is addictive and controlled studies have shown that gambling makes the human brain react in the same way as drugs and food do. A study conducted by The National Opinion Research Center on the 1998 statistics showed that 49% women and 51% men gamble, proving the point that there is no gender based difference when it comes to gambling. The study also pointed to the fact that people between the age of thirty and sixty gamble with more money than those who are younger or older. The desire to gamble is evenly distributed amongst races, gender or culture. The inherent desire to get more pleasure for little or nothing is the reason why people find gambling so pleasurable.
It is advisable that you treat gambling as an entertainment and a fun activity. Set aside a fixed amount you want to gamble with and if you lose all of it, stop at once, but if you win treat it as a bonus and leave the table.

Simple Casino Gambling Tips
Apr. 25th, 2008 | 03:14 pm
Some of the people you watch coming to a casino are there only to enjoy the feel of the place. They also bet on certain games, but soon they realize that they are losing a lot of money! Well, my advice to such people is that they should at least learn the basics of a game if they wish to visit a casino. A few simple casino gambling tips can help such people from losing a lot of money.
Be it roulette, poker, slots or bingo, you should know the rules of the game before you start playing and gambling. The best way to learn the rules is to read about them or try out the game. Yes, you might think that you will lose money if you play the game without knowing the rules, but after reading the rules, you have to first practice before playing the real game.
There are few sites that allow you to play the game with minimum startup fees. If you are planning to play for cash, it is advised that you ensure that the site or casino you are joining has respect in the circle. On your part, you need to set a few limits so that even if you lose money, it is not an outrageous amount. Additionally, you should also limit the time you are playing.
One of the most vital points to remember is that whether it is online gambling or in a casino, the house always has advantage. So, you should not rely too much on strategies. Even if you have a successful strategy, the house is sure to monitor it and find a counter strategy for it. The case is only tougher with online gambling because each and every move of yours is monitored. Based on those, they work out strategies with the help of sophisticated software.
If you are playing poker, don't jump into a tournament until you have mastered the game. The bottom line is, if you have gone there to make money, so have others! So, you should at least match their skill if not be better than them. Also study the habits of your opponents as this will definitely help you win in the long run.
It is advised that you should preferably play those games where the casino advantage is less than or only 3%. As you progress with the game, so should your betting. After every win you can raise your bet by half the amount and after every loss, go back to your minimum betting amount. This is known as progressive betting.
Lastly, if you want to make serious money or you have visited the casino just for fun, remember that if you are losing interest in the game or it annoys you or it has stopped being fun for you, then you should quit the game and walk away.

Great Strategies For Sit And Go Tournaments
Apr. 8th, 2008 | 03:14 pm
mood:
amused
Any poker game or a tournament has its own approach. For you to win, you need to know the basic principles applied to each tournament or kind of game. If you apply the tactics of one to the other, you may not be able to win, though your game could be played with utmost skill. In the sit and go tournaments, you also have to consider many important concepts.
Now coming to the second strategy. Here the secret is to maintain a good stack and assuming that the blinds have not escalated as yet. If this is the case, then you can take flops which have marginal hands in the late position especially, without fear. Most players in a tournament fail to take enough flops unless the pot is raised. This is a problem which will in the long run hamper winning.
Another strategy is getting aggressive in middle of the tournament. The momentum in the tournament keeps on increasing. Somehow, as in the first strategy, you should not gamble too early. One may be tempted to remain on the defensive. But now be warned - you don’t have much time to look and wait for nuts. You should be willing to take some risks in the middles stages of the tournament. But you should always consider you stack size. If the stack is moderate in size, then you can go on to take some risks. But if its small you have to be cautious. You should not make the mistake of folding too much on the blind as most of the players do in the middle stages of the tournament. The secret here is to always watch your stack, take the necessary risk to win the game, rather than be defensive and give your opponent an edge.

It is a free Texas Hold’em poker tournament that offers cash prizes. As far as winning free money is concerned, freeroll poker tournament has become very popular among the online poker players. It is not necessary to invest money to play this tournament. The best thing about such tournaments is that the moment a player signs up in order to become a member; he or she can start playing the game even before any deposit is made. Players can choose from plenty of poker freerolls. Daily poker freerolls are provided by most of the major poker sites on the Internet, so that the players can enjoy several poker games on a daily basis.
There is a lot of variation in the standard of competition that is found among the freerolls. Good players can be found in some of the big freerolls and such games are not easy to win. Mostly the top players do not get attracted by the online poker freerolls because the money as prize is not enough to make them sit for three hours and play. Freerolls are hosted by most of the poker sites and players can easily win cash prizes without making any sort of investment. Prize is put up for the top finishers and anyone can join these tournaments. The range of such cash prizes can be from 50 dollars to 5000 dollars. Freeroll is the solution for all the players who are not comfortable playing for real money and do not have the financial backing to cover any sort of loss.

Online Poker Loyalty Bonuses
Jan. 30th, 2008 | 11:15 am
Got an interesting article for you all today discuss the workings of online poker loyalty bonuses. It discusses exactly how they work and what happens in gaining the bonus. Hope it helps you understand the casino industry a bit better, if you have any further questions drop me a comment on here or visit this poker forum, the members there will be more than happy to help.
Online gambling has become a massive industry worldwide. Serious interest has been generated in poker due to the proliferation of high stakes televised poker tournaments along with Texas Hold’em.
Online poker rooms are finding it difficult to remain in the competition and due to this they are looking out for several promotional strategies so that more and more poker players can be lured. One of such promotional strategy is online poker bonus. It is basically cash that is offered by online poker rooms so that more traffic can be driven to their sites. Poker bonuses are available in various forms; loyalty bonus, deposit bonus, no-deposit bonus and re-load bonus.
No-deposit bonus is offered by many sites. Various casinos give bonus cash, to play with, even before a player makes any initial deposit. But you need to understand the restrictions that apply to such bonuses. Some sites will let you use no-deposit bonus on certain games only. Deposit bonus is extra cash that you receive when you fund your account with the poker site. It is offered when you sign up to any poker room on the Internet. Deposit bonuses pay a player to just play poker.
Reload bonuses are made available to the existing and new customers. Many poker sites offer periodic re-load bonuses so that the players keep coming back. Under this, an extra percentage is given back to the player to refund their account. Sometimes players get credit for being loyal to a specific site. Online poker loyalty bonuses and frequent player point structures are very common. You can take time and shop around to get the best deal. After you have searched for the best deal, you can effectively use your poker bonus. Loyalty bonus comes after the sign up bonus as a way of enticing the player to extend his or her membership at a site after they have already indulged in some gambling there.

Casino Slots Payout Percentages
Jan. 22nd, 2008 | 09:09 am
location: UK
Just a quick post today as I am on the move, hope the new year is treating you all well so far and you have ahd ltos of fun time playing poker and casino games :)
I have had a few games but with moving house it's not been easy. Very cold in old england today but a little brighter than it has been which is nice.
Todays article looks at casino slot machines and there payback percentages. If you don't already know how they work this short article will be very informative for you and will prehaps encourage you to play a few more casino slot machine games as it is possible to win big on them. If you need more advice on slot machines or casinos then check out the casino reviews page.
---
Slot machines are as random and unpredictable like a game of roulette. In a slot machine, when you pull the handle or press the spin button you are actually not generating any numbers. This is done to add to the excitement in a casino. How a slot machine actually works is with a microcomputer that is constantly generating numbers even when the machine is not in use.
There are known as Random Number Generator (RNG). Therefore, when you pull the handle or press the button the machine displays the last set of random numbers that were generated.
A good slot machine is one that gives you a higher payback percentage. These are machines that offer anywhere between 95 to 99 percent and try and play these only. Generally, the machines where you play with $1 or a higher amount are the ones that provide you with a higher payback percentage.
Machines that require you to play with $5 or more statistically have proven to have the highest payback. Many slot machines have signs indicating ‘up to 98% payback’. This is an indicator showing you that there are many loose machines leaving you with a higher chance of winning some money. ‘Up to 98% payback’ means that the slot machine will payback 98 cents of every dollar, but this takes place in the long term.
When this sign is put up it means that probably one of the machines is loose what you can do is to play when the ‘up to’ is missing from the board.
There are many ways to spot these machines; if they provide signs then you are in luck but otherwise look for the machines that are centrally located. This is because the good machines with a high payback percentile are generally located where people can see them and her the sounds of a jackpot

Almost every casino offers bonuses, incentives and comps to players so that they keep coming back, but unfortunately, these are offered only to the so called high rollers. However, it is not the same now because there are sites offering online poker bonuses to players who play good cards. Players can start to receive such bonuses the moment they sign up to become a member of any such website. For instance, the very first online poker bonus for the players would be a cash amount that will be an addition to their initial deposit made on the account on that site. This means that there is more cash to start playing with. Once a player starts gambling on that site, he or she can enjoy more bonuses for online poker. This includes special prizes that are given every day along with free entries to tournaments, with more money or other special tournament opportunities.
Online poker bonus is one of the most important reasons why so many people are indulging in the online poker rooms. Internet poker rooms provide the convenience to play from the comfort of the house and players have secured accounts, with winnings paid to the players promptly. As far as games are concerned there are a lot of gaming options available for the players and they can enter any tournament they want to. They can either play for low stakes or high stakes. Online poker room offers convenience, exciting games, tournaments and great bonuses.

Poker Hands and Basic Rules
Dec. 18th, 2007 | 09:02 am
Hey all,
Hope your Christmas shopping is coming along OK, I still have a few things to do but I’m nearly there. I am very tired today, probably because of my recent lack of sleep, too busy in the modern world and stuff.
Your second article is describing the basic rules and hands in Texas Hold'em, hopefully it will help you learn to play poker and will definitely give you a start. Let me know what you think and good luck battling the Christmas tides!
-Frank
------One of the well known version of poker played in casinos is Texas Hold ‘Em or (texas holdem). It is both a fast-paced game and can be played with many players. Texas holem is a betting game, where the basic actions and the winning hands are similar to that of normal poker.
To play this game some simple basic rules should be followed. Firstly, before dealing any cards a predetermined amount of money is put into the pot by the 2 players sitting on the left side of the dealer. The cards are shuffled by the dealer and each player is dealt 2 cards with their face down which is called ‘hole cards’.
The player sitting on the left of the dealer starts the betting. The players can call, raise or fold when their turn comes. The dealer, to ensure that no cheating takes place keeps aside the topmost card of the deck. Then the subsequent 3 cards called ‘flop’ can be placed on the table with their face up. After this the 5 ‘community cards’ is placed on the table by the dealer with their face up. The players can use this 5 ‘community cards’ with their 2 ‘hole cards’ to make any combination that they desire. Their goal is to make the best possible hand. Then the 2nd round of betting begins.
The topmost card of the deck is kept aside by the dealer and the subsequent card called the ‘Fourth Street’ is placed on the table with its face up. The players again can call, raise or fold during their turn. The 3rd round of betting then begins.
Again the dealer keeps aside the topmost card and places the subsequent card called the ‘Fifth Street’ or the ‘river’ on the table with its face up. Finally, the best possible 5 card poker hand is created by the players. This is done by making a combination of the 5 ‘community cards’ and the 2 ‘hole cards’ whose identity is known to the players. After this the 4th and final round of betting begins. At the end of the round, the remaining players in the game show their hands, beginning with the player who made the first bet or the player who made the last raise. The player creating the best hand is the winner.
Though the basic rules of poker are simple, it is important to develop an intuition to understand if the opponents are bluffing or if they really have a good hand. Another good trick to put opponents in a wrong track is by not showing one’s emotions. But having fun is the most important rule of texas holdem.

A History of Poker
Dec. 10th, 2007 | 02:07 pm
Here is my first official article post, it looks into the somewhat murky history of poker. I hope you will find it informative and i'm sure it will be of interest to anyone who enjoys the game. It will also be a handy one to read for the pub quizzes ;)
Hope you like it, if you want to learn more or learn how to play poker then visit the WassOnline site. There is a great poker tutorial that will take you through many of the different poker variations as well as explaining poker hand ranks.
----------------------------------------
Poker is considered to be most popular among the different card games played in the world. This game is not only fast- paced but also fun- filled and it can be enjoyed by many players together. How the game of poker is still a mystery. However, people say that this game began more than 10 centuries ago. Since then, there have been a lot of changes in this game.
It is believed that the Chinese were the first to play the game of poker that goes back to the 10th century. In the 12th and 13th century an early form of the poker game was played by the Egyptians. In the 16th century the Persians used to play ‘Ganfija’ which was a version of poker.
In the 18th century ‘Poque’ was played by the French which was considered its national game. The game played by the German was called ‘Pochen’. Both ‘Pochen’ and ‘Poque’ are said to be early versions of the game of poker. From the year 1526 the Spanish started playing the ‘Primero’ which is considered to be the ‘poker mother’. This is said to be the first version of poker as it has direct similarities with the modern poker. The Spanish knew that in spite of having poor cards the opponents could be deceived by using the concept of bluffing and calling high stakes.
The writings of Jonathan H. Green in 1834 provide the earliest written references of the game of poker. This game was referred by him as the ‘cheating game’. But on realizing that his writing was the only written evidence of this game, he decided to name it ‘poker’. However, the origin of the word ‘poker’ is contradictory. The word poker is derived either from French ‘poque’ or the German ‘pochen’. It is often believed that it may be derived from the Indian word ‘pukka’. It is also believed that the word poker is derived from the slang word ‘poke’ which is generally a term used for pickpockets. Even though the origin of poker is uncertain this one of the most poplar card game in this world.
The present poker scene is dominated by three games which are the 5 card draw, the 7 card stud and the Texas Hold ‘Em. The most prestigious event of the game of poker that attracts players from different parts of the world is the World Series of Poker. Poker is a simple game that has and will continue to attract players. By playing poker people have and will continue to win money.
